Mind you this is a nuclear facility where the guards have authority to use automatic small-arms. The heist at the beginning is cool and all, but it’s implausible. The narrative here is mechanically weak, which really hampers the believability of the show.
Zankou no Terror has A LOT of plot contrivances and convenient developments. Speaking of the story: it doesn’t make much in the way of sense. Overall the visuals in this show gives it a serious and realistic tone, time will tell whether it clashes with the story or not. Animation is by no means top-notch, but in general actions are quite fluid when they count with shortcuts taken when necessary.
I particularly like the large contrast between the mundanely bright outdoor scenes and the stale and dim indoor scenes, it really helps to convey the sunny yet stagnant summer setting. Faces and skin tones have a natural human texture, and moment animations are often frenetic but not overexpressed. The individuals in this show do not have that idealized aesthetic that has become very common-place in anime. Zankyou no Terror is certainly not lacking in the visual department. But first let’s talk about some good points. I will go into detail about what was wrong with this episode. OP:「Trigger」by Ozaki Yuuki (from Galileo Galilei) I want to say that Zankyou no Terror impresses me, but it really doesn’t.
